Lightbox Signage — Order Online from Printhouse.ie

A lightbox sign is a sealed illuminated cabinet with a printed or acrylic fascia lit evenly from behind — your whole logo and wording glow as one clean panel, unlike LED signage where the illumination forms the letters themselves. We manufacture slim edge-lit cabinets (30–50mm deep) for modern shopfronts and interior reception walls, and deep-fascia cabinets (100–150mm) for takeaways, chippers, cafés, salons and older shopfront surrounds. Fascias are printed on high-brightness translucent vinyl over opal acrylic, or cut from opal acrylic with contour-cut vinyl overlays; frames are powder-coated aluminium in your chosen RAL colour with a sealed IP-rated supply for external use. The fascia is removable, so a rebrand needs a new panel rather than a new cabinet. Built in-house in Gorey, Co. Wexford and installed nationwide. Quote only.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a lightbox sign cost in Ireland?

Lightbox pricing depends on fascia size, cabinet depth, the fixing surface and access for installation, so it is quote-only. Send us the fascia dimensions, your logo and a photo of the shopfront and we return a firm quote within one working day.

What is the difference between a lightbox sign and an LED sign?

A lightbox is a sealed cabinet with a single lit fascia — the whole panel glows evenly. LED signage means the illumination forms the letters themselves, usually as built-up or halo-lit characters. Lightboxes cost less per square metre and are easier to rebrand; built-up LED letters look more premium on a period or high-end shopfront.

Can the artwork be changed later without replacing the sign?

Yes — the fascia is removable, so a rebrand, a change of trading name or a franchise livery update only needs a new printed panel rather than a new cabinet, at a fraction of the original cost.

Do I need council permission for a shopfront lightbox in Ireland?

Often, yes. Illuminated signage projecting over a public footpath, and signage on protected structures or in an architectural conservation area, generally needs consent from your local authority. Rules vary by council, so check before we manufacture.

Are LED lightboxes cheap to run?

Yes — modern LED modules use a fraction of the power of older fluorescent-lit lightboxes and are rated for 50,000+ hours, so day-to-day running cost is very low.

Can you make a double-sided projecting lightbox?

Yes. Double-sided cabinets on a wall bracket are common on narrow streets where a flat fascia only reads head-on. Both faces are printed and the bracket is specified for cabinet weight and wind loading at that height.

What artwork do you need for a lightbox fascia?

Vector artwork — AI, EPS or PDF with live paths — plus exact fascia dimensions and a photo of the mounting surface. A logo pulled from a website will not enlarge to shopfront size cleanly; we can redraw it for a small one-off charge if the vector files are gone.

Do you do the mains electrical connection?

We supply the lightbox pre-wired to a standard fused spur. Final mains connection is normally done by a local electrician, and we can co-ordinate that across most of Leinster on request.
