Bleed & Crop Marks! Why they are important to us

Bleed

This is the area of your artwork that extends beyond the actual size of the finished document. You should add bleed to avoid strips of white paper showing on the edges of your print when printed.

Add 5mm extra to all four sides, e.g. if your business card is 80x55mm, then you would supply the artwork to us at 90x65mm. We then cut off the extra 5mm off all sides leaving you with a perfect card.

Crop Marks

Crop marks, also known as trim marks, are lines printed in the corners of your artwork to show us where to trim the printing. Where an image or colour on the page needs to extend all the way to the edge of the paper, crop marks are essential.

I do not have bleed or crop marks!

Ok, it’s not the end of the world. We suggest that we add a small white border around the edge of your artwork. This will make your artwork look even all around and will stop the dreaded small white line appearing on one side of your finished printing when we cut it.
